I have successfully used John Kempf’s suggested N mix (Liquid N plus sugar, humates, 10:1 ratio of N to Sulfur, and molybdenum) for a couple years now, and really like it. I can see the upside of not having to convert all the nitrate or ammonium fraction to a biological form in the plant, but mostly I can use half as much and get twice the result without the flush of vegetative growth that usually happens two weeks after an normal N application. I will look into those techniques, very intriguing.
