Thanks for your thoughts Johnathon. Currently I’m not seeing anything over 2ppm on any micronutrients (cobalt, moly, Selenium, boron) according to my latest soil tests. I’ve also been mixing most things with either humic acid or fulvic acid to buffer these inputs. With that said, this has been a learning year for me as I’m just getting started. I’m sure I have had some over application of some things but it hasn’t manifested itself on my soil tests yet. Well there is one exception, I had a high pH area where I certainly over applied sulfur and brought the pH down too much and the soil test certainly shows very high levels of sulfur. The cover crop is still growing well despite the high sulfur levels. Those areas have chunks of limestone in them and in my first attempt at applying sulfur I wasn’t able to make a dent in the pH. Thus I went a bit too heavy on my second attempt and the pH dropped considerably. The top few inches is where most of the acidity is so I’m going to do a deeper till (8″) in a couple of weeks so the higher pH soil below can mix with the lower pH soil at the surface. I’ve attached my latest soil test that shows where everything is currently. Other than the sulfur mistake I don’t see anything alarming in these 5 samples. The original levels before I did any amending can be seen in my market garden journal in that forum.
