I don’t know that you will find much advantage to coring the heads but a good technique is to take one cut but grow large heads and just leave the bottom third behind, this way you get clean leavesand a large yield per head with one quick cut.

Good fertility and an extra week or so growing time is needed but if the crop is free of bugs and harvested when it’s cool them washing could also be skipped.
