Hi Vijay.
You say you need to convince your father. I have given this question a lot of thought because there is a farmer here in our village that I am on first name terms with and I have been looking for ways to encourage him to look at alternative solutions ( he is aware that conventional agriculture is flawed, but is stuck believing that any alternative will be too expensive or lower yields). You should ask your father to give you the chance to try some ideas out on a small area. This will be ideal for you too because it will a cheap trial to find out what works, with the rest of the land being a fantastic control to judge your success by. Make sure he will allow you at least three years before he judges. Keep a record of everything you do and what it costs. On a small scale you might be able to collect enough rain water or use a small household RO system at least for foliar applications.
Pick a crop you particularly like and set targets (eg. Solve a pest problem, firmer fruit or something). In England we say the proof of the pudding is in the eating (meaning you can talk about a cake forever, but if it tastes good, then there is no need to say any more…)
