    Good stuff guys.

I want to remind everyone, I’ve never claimed to be the smartest guy here. I don’t have an education in this field and I am here because of the evolutionary path I’ve been on as we’ve been looking for innovative ways to repurpose waste streams and more recently to rapidly regenerate the soil.

I started the thread with an acknowledgment that the subject of compost is highly charged – I know this from years’ worth of discussions. I don’t intend to say compost is bad. But, I am stepping outside the box to ask the question ‘is there a case where it isn’t necessary to apply compost when it comes to soil health’? Or better yet, can we do a better job of rehabilitating soil without compost? These are hard subjects to talk about given conventional thinking when it comes to compost.

I keep going back to basic questions based on observations that need answers in my mind:

    • Charlie’s Compost – where did 75% of the nutrients disappear to?
    • How is it we are able to apply AgRehab the same day as planting on a field that is in poor shape, yet it produces a robust harvest?
    • Why do we see hypha all over fields that are treated with AgRehab, but nowhere else?
    • Why do treated fields self-propagate healthy ground cover?
    • Why did the weed pressure reduce?
    • Given the typical nutrient content of compost, can it be considered a fertilizer?
    • Can one application of compost feed a crop through an entire growth cycle?
    • Or more specifically – can 3 gallons of play sand be regenerated by amending it with 6 oz of high-quality compost to a level where it can grow produce?
    • What should the reaction be if we can amend 3 gallons of play sand with 6 oz of AgRehab and enjoy a harvest of squash 8 weeks later?

I hope we are able to connect with master’s level and Ph.D. students this year to answer these questions and more to the satisfaction of the scientific community. I am incapable of doing so.
