Hey Nina, thanks for your reply. There are some really good questions in there. In our region we have a very mixed agricultural landscape, with a lot of wine production and even more vegetables. Especially leafy and root vegetables, as well as specialty crops like asparagus.
Because of that, the regional supply of these types of vegetables is already quite good and—typical for Germany—very intensively farmed and produced at low cost. I think it would therefore make more sense for me to focus on shrub fruits, something that can be seen more as an experience for families or visitors who come onto the site. Maybe adding a few mushroom growing blocks as well.
Fundamentally, the project should be financed through a subscription model, where members pay a basic fee and in return can pick up a box of seasonal produce directly, without additional costs. Anything beyond that would be charged based on self-harvesting and by the kilogram.
Of course, I’m aware that the workload for such a small area would be relatively high, but it’s also meant to function as a bit of a lighthouse or flagship project for the region.
