Thank you Brian. The reason I believe the approach may be different between regenerative-organic system and conventional, in this case in almonds in California, is because in the regenerative-organic system all the N is organic N coming from cover crops, compost, biology, and organic matter, whereas in conventional it’s coming from synthetic N. And the Haney test is measuring water-extractable organic Nitrogen among other things, so this test looks to give a significantly better snapshot into how much organic N is available vs immobilized, whereas a typical soil audit will not tell you that.
