    I have had a bit of a difficult time extracting useful information from Dr. Duke’s database- partially because the handful of plants I have looked up there were not present, and also because I just don’t know what I’m looking at as far as what some or most of the information actually means.

    Really interesting point about the brix level of weeds- I note some insect and disease damage on many of our weed species here, so I take that as an indicator of poor health. In fact the palmer pigweed (amaranth) in my market garden space often looks like a shotgun has been taken to it via flea beetle damage. Also knowing that brix is an ever fluctuating metric, I was very interested to learn recently that plants will respond to barometric pressure and withdraw nutrients down into the roots in preparation for oncoming storms.
