    We do have a compact disc as well and it tends to make a nice looking finish. But one pass definitely is not enough to kill a 2 year old clover grass mixture for us. It will not provide a usable seedbed as well. Can we call two or even more passes with machines like that still reducing tillage?

    I really like the compact disc, but I have grown more and more suspicious that it creates more compaction than we think and want. More than one pass also tends to leave the soil on top overly soft and without structure, the bottom stays hard. What rainfall will make of that is also nothing to be desired. This fall it rained heavily after the first pass, this made muddy slime on top which didn’t dry out again and made it even difficult to get traction for anything else after. In this case I felt like I made tillage even worse…
