Thanks Steve. I read something interesting about purslane on Wikipedia. As a companion plant it can absorb salt from the soil and help to salt-sensitive plants to flourish. I always think weeds are there to correct soil imbalances.
I have chickens now on the land, so I will see if they are able to pick out the seeds and make a difference.
