Hi Stephen, in some of my plots for the past few years I have been using sweet alyssum in the walking paths and the vegetable beds. The plants vine out and cover the ground very well without getting taller than a foot or so. They also are constantly in flower, bringing in pollinators. They shade out the weeds, but I don’t know what positive effects they bring to the soil. Hope this is helpful.
