I believe John Kempf recommends that threshold for repeated applications, but that a one-time application at a higher rate would be OK. In my experience the susceptibility of the crop is actually important, I’ve seen burn on some fruit varieties and none on a neighboring block with the same spray. Heat, irrigation status, time of day, dilution rate, and humidity are all going to be big factors as well.
