Hi Adam. I recently attended a webinar put on by Earthfort Lab where they shared their results on tests they did of replicated soil samples from every succession level from annual grains to old growth conifer forest, where they compared direct microscopy results to the microbiometer. I know they wanted to hold off on going public with the results outside of those on the webinar, because they want to repeat the experiment, but there was very poor correlation between the two. The microbiometer had huge variability sample to sample, <29% correlation, but the direct microscopy was >90%. Also, the accuracy fell way off as the fungi increased. There was <10% accuracy with the old growth forest, but the annual grains had much better correlation, around 60% if I remember right. Early results suggest it may be very inaccurate in measuring fungi.
