I plan to use bokashi as the test, to inoculate several 5 gallon pails with the same amount and type of food waste using each of the different inoculants. I will compare first how long it takes to ferment, and then secondarily the biological impact after its added to a trench and covered until its fully composted back to humus. I’ll use the Microbio meter and the microscope to compare biological activity of the completed soil to see if there is any indication of different life.

I spoke with Chris Trump (big KNF guy in Hawaii) about this and his anecdotal feedback was there probably wouldn’t be a difference. Excited to see though. Even if the fermentation can be sped up thats an argument to use diverse sources.
