Thanks John – really useful answer.. I was thinking if the plant is being fed and accessing ammonium, would it do this preferentially over K uptake? And could this then limit K uptake enough to impact yield but not enough to cause visual symptoms.

Thats interesting. I don’t think we can say we have ever got a yield bump from it either. It does make the soil tests look nice, but unfortunately that doesn’t pay the bills.

Thanks, I definitely will get another test.
Does anyone know of a lab that will do a comprehensive nutrient (most common 12 or more nutrients) test on compost tea, for both dissolved and total levels?
Is there literature out there that delineates the difference/relevance of nutrients for dissolved or total in a compost tea?

I’m not in a space to give a detailed answer right away, what I would say quickly is that if a lab appears to be off by 10 or 100x, I question the labs math. Not the first of 50th time I have seen it happen. Given what you are describing, I have a lot of skepticism about the second labs report. You should ask them to run a free…
