You might consider using rice hills as replacement for perlite in the mix as a partial source.

I would suggest supplying potassium silicate or a silicon product as a foliar in the greenhouse, since they are in a mostly organic media.

The additional silicon will produce much harder leaf exteriors and reduce water loss and transplant shock.

We did have Rebound Silicon years ago and discontinued it because of regulatory costs vs sales. May need to revisit. I would suggest using selenomethionine as a source of selenium.

Silicon is directly related, in my experience, to microbiological activity. I believe that is John Kempf’s measure as well. Once we got that going, with the soil primer, less chem inputs, and ending tillage, our numbers have gone up. We dribble nitrogen out the back beside the corn row, 2 to 3 inches away. It seems to help some when planting into green rye or wheat. And we also have an infurrow for some biologicals as well. For us, the nitrogen put on at planting is a convenient way to get N on early.
