Hi Amos,
What is the crop you are working with?
A lot depends on the form of N and the application rate. Applying in a 2×2 is much better than in furrow with the seed, but still prefer only a few lb/acre application rates.

I have been thinking about how to respond to this discussion. I am hesitant to subscribe to the idea that applications larger than 100 lb/ac invariably have a negative effect on soil microbiology.
