On many crops it is worth adding more silicon to the soil, biological activity is an important driver. Most soil silicon remains stable and locked up in the soil mineral matrix. Adding as a foliar is also particularly useful.

Two questions
Scott, what convinced you that you need to increase silicon in your starts? Just curious.
John, what do you think about wollastonite as a soil amendment in the field? I’m not sure but I assume that most soils are very high in silicon – is it worth it to add more? Or focus on increasing biological activity?
