We use OP-8 quite a bit, but have limited data on how the levels of pesticide residues in soils changed before and after treatment, as it is difficult to know what to look for, and expensive to guess.
We continue to use it because of the strong economic crop response when we apply it on soils with a history of pesticide use.

Haven’t seen it often that I recall, but is theoretically possible. Are your referring to K and NH4 antagonizing each other in the plant or in the soil? Both are cations, with a similar hydration radius, and can be locked up on clay colloids on soil clay types. High ammonium in plants also produces a reduced environment in the root zone, and…

Hi Benny,
Thanks for being here! We haven’t conducted any recent comparisons between our products, and even if we had, I don’t know if I would publish or discuss them. If our products are better, its best to just let people see that, and if they aren’t better we best step up our game before publishing anything anyway. 🙂

Sulfuric acid to neutralize bicarbonates
The amount varies based on the amount of bicarbonates present in the water. It can be tested on a small scale by adding a measured amount of acid to a measured amount of water and measuring the pH 24 hours later. The reason for the 24 hr delay is to take the buffering effect into consideration.

AEA has a research project in process and expecting to be published in the coming year that could be used as a reference. We have lots of field experience and evidence, but haven’t published it.
