How to fix hydrophobic soil regeneratively
We have found that adding liquid enzyme concentrates to the water being added makes the water a lot wetter and can resolve this challenge.

I haven’t done this for soil, but I’ve done this for potting mixes that are so dried out that they won’t take water….
Yucca extract is a non-ionic organic surfactant that you can water into the ground. It will create better water retention until you build up the organic matter.

Continuing with my hive design experimenting, these are built out of 60psi 2 inch thick XPS insulation, with the same interior dimensions as the wooden boxes in my previous post. Will see how these perform in our humid, cold, fluctuating temperature winters.

I am moving all of my beehives to be permanently mounted on trailers so they can easily be moved to follow the nectar flow in the local region.
Here is a trailer load with insulation finished, ready to be moved to a winter yard in a wind protected location.

Having them on a trailer is a great idea.
Before we had our own beehives, a local beekeeper would bring his trailer of bees around and leave it on our farm for months at a time. I’m gathering there is a forklift involved in the moving of these off the trailer when necessary.
