Hi
Has anyone had experience with Sunn Hemp as a an N fixing cover crop? I am looking to combine it with lab lab, cow pea, buckwheat for some P release and aperhaos some tillage radish. Planting in summer after our winter crop harvest, objectives being N fixation and weed suppression.
I’d be interested to hear all experiences. We’re located…

Slugs and the role of nutrition, epescially iron
That’s really interesting Tom. I have considered the potassium link from a different perspective.
What slugs love the most is wilting leaves. A pile of freshly cut comfrey or potato haulms attracts slugs like nothing else. When we consider that potassium is responsible for turgidity in plants then plants low in potassium are less turgid,…

Slugs and the role of nutrition, epescially iron
Yeah same thing here – slug grazing starting on lettuce pre-harvest. Is it a potassium deficiency? I’ve only read a bit about this, but it seems potassium demand is very low until a certain stage of development, and then becomes high.
I changed our lettuce planting to two rows in a bed, attempting to lower slug activity generally. More…

Hi friends!
I am a biologist and a farmer, I grow berries using natural fertilizers, bacteria, algae, biostimulants, etc.. but also chelated and saline elements. I try to study plants response and resistance to pests and diseases.
I did NCC sap analysis on raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.
From the data you can see there are…4 Comments-

Slugs
I want to start a discussion about slugs. What attracts them?
My experiments this year are based around increasing the iron levels in my plants. The theory is that as slugs contain very high levels of copper, they need to consume plant material with high copper levels in order to grow and to maintain themselves. Many studies show…
