Thank you for your input. Both trees have flowered and look healthy at the moment. I did put some beneficial nematodes on it a couple of times to see if it’ll help, but I don’t expect them to remain healthy. On second inspection of the picture, it looks as if the truck has two leaders. Is this correct?

Hi Rich.
I’m no expert.
I think peaches hate being planted deep, depending on the rootstock and height of graft union etc, so check the crown level- if it’s unhappy, perhaps this invited in unwanted organisms. I don’t know why specifically- moisture, bark breathability, increased environment for pathogenic bacteria, or similar.
