Technical Question – when the level of nutrients are measured in the sap, is it the level of available nutrient for plant growth? Is it possible that some of the level tested may be oxidised and unavailable to the plant? E.G. Oxidised Fe or Mn?

We believe that the results from sap analysis reflect only free and available nutrients in the plant sap. We have experienced tissue tests showing excessive levels of Mn or Fe while sap analysis showed deficiency and the plant showed visual deficiencies symptoms.
After applying reduced form nutrient via foliar spray the symptoms were reduced,…

Yes I understand SAP cannot differentiate between oxidized Fe and Mn and plant available Fe and Mn. Also cannot differentiate Phosphite and Phosphate. I still see SAP as a useful tool to see difference between new and old growth and movement of mobile nutrients along with type of nitrogen that is in the plant.
