Defiantly not an expert in this area, but I would be curious what some calcium and boron would do. Essentially you are wanting to shorten the growth nodes. If you are working with green manures then you are potentially getting a big surge of nitrates as they break down which is contributing to the tall growth. Ca could help to balance things out a bit.

Hi all,
Whilst not technically a cover crop and perhaps more a companion crop I am keen to try this next season. We will be growing our own Buckwheat as a cash crop. I know of farmers in similar geographies in southern Australia having good success with vetch in with canola.
