Originally we started with imperial gallons, but it got too confusing and there was only one company we were working with that used Imperial so we migrated everything over to USG or Litres. Less confusion and less error.

No we actually put our melted urea with our herbicides all the time. The sprayer is going across the field anyway, so may as well take advantage of the foliar efficiency while we are out there. If the mode of action is systemic, we use the full rate of herbicide. If it is contact MOA, then cut the herbicide rate by 30% as the melted urea heats up the herbicide. Another benefit. Less herbicide less cost.

And don’t feel bad about “not knowing much”. Walk before you run, ask lots of questions, most importantly, do your own trials on your own farm with your own management to obtain your own data. Its how we all learn.

Lastly, be prepared for ridicule. Neighbors who farm conventionally will think you are crazy because “nobody does it that way”. Surprisingly, some of the farmers will be angry because you are raising your crops with significantly higher health at a fraction of the cost that they have. At the end of the day, it its all about health. Your financial health, your mental health, and your plant’s health as well as a the soil health.

    Good luck with your journey!
