My first thought is to dig/aerate the soil where you can. Not sure if that’s possible with the trees. We noticed that the couch grass slows down and changes morphology considerably in areas that we’ve dug by hand. It’s easy to pull out when it’s struggling and in loose soil. We’ve also found multiple rounds of tillage and fast covers to be effective, but that’s probably irrelevant in your context? How large is the area?
