I actually just realised that I am doing broccoli sprouts and they have abundant root hairs with just water (tap water with chlorine at that). Seems funny to see such roots in this type of environment.
I was actually working with a farmer recently that uses rhubarb in his biofertilisers in order to release as much as oxalic acid as possible to enhance plant nutrient uptake. We have oxalis in our context which would do the trick.
I found this paper online that reviews the role of organic acids for plants and microbes: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0254629915315167
But I would love to have the input of Harriet on this one. Is it something that is touched upon on her course? I haven’t done it yet.
I will get in touch with Jesse Frost thanks for that.
