    Hallo Harriet,

    That’s a very interesting idea, if I understand it correctly. I’m not too fresh on the photorespiration cycle but if I have it correctly the CO2 that is released is essentially coming from the decarboxylation of Glycine? So please correct me if I am wrong, but when you are saying photorespiration becomes stuck, are you referring to the cell running out of Glycine?

    If the cells then run out of Glycine O2 in the cell could continue to increase causing oxidative stress and radical oxygen species. Which could damage the cell? Or what do you mean a stuck metabolic pathway?
