    Hombre, if it looks at you with colored eyes – dump it… The fuzzy fluff with the black dots is a sporulating zygomycete. I have no idea if this is something that is very desirable, at least it is not problematic… From a rhizosphere view not terribly desirable, but maybe the IMO inoculant works for entirely different purposes. I personally think that the preservation will kill many of the microbes, but maybe this is not even the clou of the method, but also collecting genetic material that can be taken up by your locals via horizontal gene transfer. I have questions about that for many man-years in research :-)))

    Maybe you need to go a bit dryer with your material and be sure to put it in a spot where you have copious exudation and leaf mould.
