The purpose of the Johnson-Su bio reactor is to create a beneficial fungi environment. By holding it for the year you allow the fungi to fully populate the pile, but also let them run out of food which causes them to sporolate. That is the reason one can use a two pounds per acre application rate. Don’t focus too much on a full spectrum compost, just take advantage of a compost that does one thing really well.
