@hallthor thanks for demonstrating the need for some level of consistency in defining compost. I do not know enough about the different type/styles you referenced to provide sound feedback. If compost is anaerobic (I mean anaerobic, see above where I mixed them up) what purpose is it intended to serve I healthy soils? There obviously are some purposes, but generally speaking the goal is not to make healthy soils anaerobic, right? Maybe a small amount of anaerobic compost helps in fostering rhizophagy and can assist this process in a limited way? I have seen some mind blowing anaerobic processes that have great results, but when it goes bad is goes terribly bad.
I’m attempting a no-turn compost now because of the temperatures. If I were to turn according to my usual process there would be too much recovery time needed in between turns and the water used to saturate the compost would also be really cold ???? . So I have opted for a slower decomposing process. Here’s a few pics.
I use a post hole digger every week to agitate and aerate.
So I do think different method have different benefits, faster/slower, more fungi, waste/remediation etc. So the purpose and use definitely has relevance.
