We had an issue in 2020 on an organic corn field, cold temps, wet start, slow growth, nutrient deficiencies from cold soils. I did a fair bit of research on the cultural/rotational side and life cycle of wireworms. Some of the worsts parts of the field we incorporated and seeded to buckwheat, apparently they don’t do well under buckwheat. The following year we transitioned in to a perennial alfalfa stand and will try and address some nutrient deficiencies before we consider going back in to a grass stand. One of John’s podcasts discussed wireworms and plant nutrition but now I don’t recall which one.
