Thanks for your reply Harriot. However your reply generates more questions than it does answers for a non-biologist like ????. Under what conditions do plants need to ferment substances to produce energy and what substances are we talking about? Is ethanol produced in wilting or freshly cut plants? It would be great if you could explain a bit more clearly and basically for us humble growers!
