Hi Benny, I have been reading your posts over and over and I just have one question. I am with you when you say the new culture is going to have a completely different microbiome that the old culture but I am under the understanding that the new microbiome is already present in the soil – just dormant or in smaller populations awaiting more optimal conditions. As the pH and Culture shifts the microbiome that is dominant with multiply and the lower pH microbiome will reduce and become dormant. so the desire to do less harm to all the microbiome is not so much to preserve to old microbiome but rather to preserve the microbiome that would thrive in the new culture. Is my understanding correct here? Otherwise the only way I can think to introduce the appropriate microbial community is through compost amendments derived from compost with targeted new pH.

Again, I can’t tell you enough how this conversation has been really helpful to me as I am planning the next steps on the farm. Thank you.
