I think the basic application of the course is in how you look at disease development and control methods. My friend is an organic wine producer and powdery mildew is a serious issue to handle. Looking at the redox chart and keeping in my mind that this organism is an oomycete (prefers a reduced environment), he tried to introduce oxygen into the soil with a light tillage pass after a heavy rain or in a waterlogged spot. This created unfavorable conditions for the mildew and thus its control remained manageable without pesticides. I noticed the same effect with phytophthora on a very small scale (my garden) where I stopped irrigation and introduced some oxygen. This may not be much but I hope it gives you another insight on the topic. Good luck!
