I’m currently employing vermicompost liquids and johnson-su compost on about 15 acres of vineyard. You see some improvement in fungal numbers and an increase in protozoa and nematodes with the first application, but since some areas are severely lacking in organic matter they tend to drop off in drier/more sandy spots. One really fun effect of applying biology is watching the weeds leave the field!
Here’s just one pic I have of silverleaf nightshade that’s been pushed out of the field. I’ll attach two pictures, one where the a field hasn’t been treated yet as a control, and one that has had biology and some winter cover crops established under vine and terminated in spring. You can literally see where the extracts have been applied!
