While I’m not going to discount it out of hand, as many things which were once considered “woo woo” are now generally accepted (remember the “wee beasties” which we now understand to be entire eco-systems of microorganisms?) My experience as a Ham Radio operator and non-professional electrical work across many disciplines, make me quite skeptical, simply because if these bits of wire are “antennas” then they are resonate based on lenghth and cross section, as a reciever the direction of winding would have little effect. It just logically makes very little sense, and I have seen enough “experiments” that the more rigorous ones do not seem to uphold the theory, and the ones that gush about the results, are much more emotional, ancedotal and lack rigor. I hope to get to a point where I can do some “experiments” myself, perhaps with some others where we can cross check each other and insure some blind if not double-blind rigor. Not to mention, if putting bits of wire in the ground helped, then every garden using tomato cages, or metal trellis’s etc should be showing the effect, and what about being near power lines? My skepticism is quite high, but, skepticism is actually the basis of science is it not?
