There is a possible addition that comes to mind: percolation. It seems sometimes we confuse infiltration with percolation. It is great that the first inch of water infiltrates quickly, but what about the 4th or 5th inch? We are getting more and more extreme rainfall events, and we need our soils to be able to percolate water down through, and then back up, fairly rapidly. When soils infiltrate an inch quickly, but the top six inches are then saturated, and doesnt move down through quickly, we still have work to do. What are your thoughts?
