In some of my clients orchards (almonds and citrus in California) we have been using an Oat, Pea, Bell Bean and Vetch mix and terminating it at bloom with a blower mower. In my own fruit tree orchard I have a more perennial mix of fescue, clover, chicory and phacelia, and use either mowing or chicken grazing, I really like it. There’s a little bit of wild mustard in there that I let grow too.
