    Most of the growers I talked to who were still doing MR system were wanting to switch to plastic, but they weren’t doing regen ag. Most growers switch because of weeds, soil temps, and cleaner berries.

    In MR, they still usually heavily work the soil prior to planting (and after they’re done growing). The method I’ll be testing is a similar concept except will be growing cover as my ‘straw’ instead of bringing it in. Hope that by growing cover for 9 months prior to planting, it helps build the soil.

    They are usually treated as an annual here but if they stay healthy I may keep them over a second year. At that point, I would be worried about the residue decomposing and weeds becoming a more serious issue. Not sure what I’d do about it in that situation.

    If I did keep it as an annual, could no till sorghum sudan grass into the beds in May and replant the berries in August/Sept.
