The way we guage it for the most part is pure respiration and how long it takes for the microbes to regerate the acrivity. At our Lab we use a Licor machines to measure this over a 24 hour incubation. I believe humates will soften any of these types of injuries to the system, but I don’t have any real data to support my statement.
