Great chat guys. Thank you. I’m moving towards a self selection mineral system for my cattle and sheep in amongst planting herbal leys, bushes and trees and grazing through woodlands. For a while now I felt that a green pasture is not what we should be trying to achieve. For me the perfect grazing/browsing landscape is herbal ley in a field that is littered with a variety of bushes from herbs to fruits. Let the animal self select from Nature. I see my job as a herdsman/shepherd to provide a huge variety of browsing and to put more focus on maintaining those habitats rather than messing around too much with the animals, apart from moving them every 1-3 days to allow for long periods of habitats recovery.
