Hi there! Better means probably: at demand. If the material is stored in the soil in a way that the plant can tap it on demand, it will perform best. Faster can also mean too fast resulting in more than needed and subsequently lost! Whenever our concepts go extreme (hoarding, speed, …), we are creating the next problem. An abundant and diverse biological activity is certainly desirable!
You can find local cellulose degrading fungi in any tree-stump that looks brown and blocky. This is left-over lignin, so the cellulose is gone. Include it in a medium temperature composting. Best H
