Hope all is well in NY. Always great to see another Apple grower stepping out side the comfort of our industry norms!

Good point about most farms already having ‘trees growing on their own roots’.

We could test the impact now but because of how they are managed the results may not be that helpful in most cases.

A few thoughts on scion rooted trees:

What if we didn’t continually try to prune back these trees to fit the system the were not designed for?

Might we be able to design a system to benefit from scion rooting?

I wonder how the scion rooting might impact the tree beyond vigor?

Nutrition within the shoot, roots, and fruits?

Soil improvements?

Replant issues?

Greater Photosynthetic efficiency?

Potential increased bins/acre?
