Probably calcium to magnesium ratio is important both in soil and pots, and the potassium to sodium ratio is important to watch too, but I don’t know if it’s economical in pots either. Just from a family growing their own food perspective, where sap tests and soil tests are not economical, there’s probably some benefit to just shotgunning it with the basics as long as they don’t over-apply. That seems to be most gardeners’ problem. Biology will release some nutrients but it’s hard to measure reliably or quantify or predict. But overall even in my pots at home, I find well-made compost, bio inoculants and stimulants like humic acid and seaweed, trace minerals, and adequate calcium to the backbone of a successful program.
