I have read that most livestock like an acidic water and rain water and tap water runs around 6-7 ph so I add 8oz to one gallon of water to bring my ph down for my sheep, chickens and donkeys. I buy PH strips in a pack( like matches) and experiment until I find the right combo to bring my PH to 5.0
