This is a really interesting question and I don’t have an answer but would like to join the conversation. I too wonder what the perfect habitat would be for long term Strawberries. I imagine some sort of agroforestry operation. I suppose our commercial varieties have been pushed more for aesthetic qualities over Nutrient Density. I guess also many are growing commercial strawberries in non-native climates so are needing to manipulate the environment to make a commercially viable crop. We need to push for nutritional density over aesthetics for so many reasons!
