Howdy. Great questions. We kept the varieties separated. We narrowed from 10 to 5 after the first year. Year one was done by hand. We use no chemicals. Everything was mechanical terminated and no tillage. You have to see what will work in your system. We are starting 3 new lines this year. Group 2, group 3, and high protein.

Christopher, thanks for the suggestions. I’ve had cover crops since 2014 and we also rotationally graze sheep and cattle through the orchard. I’ve debated a Johnson su reactor, I only need a couple of reactors though. We have 600 trees, so I’m hoping to find something other than raking.

I guess you don’t know until you have the conversation. Christine Jones presented a field day in this ecosystem the mix was kind of set and forget in terms of management but constantly admired and interacted with by the farmer because it was teaming with life a lot of feed back for the senses from being present in the space.

Wow, thanks for that Steve. This is exactly the lines I am working on at the moment, but I think this is a bit advanced for someone who is coming from a very conventional start point.
