Thanks. I appreciate now from your comments that the mixed covers in year one can nicely segue in year two into some perennial covers. I see that some where biennials. I have a strong interest in using Sorghum Sudan grass (in the mix) but the catch is how to prevent it from going to seed before winter kill in central Minnesota (US). Mowing…

Preferred soil prep protocols for starting new fruit tree row?
We did drill a multi species cover crops on a very degraded field that had been hit hard with glyphosate two years in a row prior to us working on it and it worked an absolute treat. We are in southern Sweden.
All we added was about a ton and a half of lime/ha in early spring (very low calcium, about 2%om).

Thanks John. We’ve planted about 200ha. 12kgs/ha of sunn hemp, 10kgs cow pea, 10kgs of mung bean, 4kgs buckwheat, 1 sunflowers, 0.5kgs tillage radish plus there will be plenty of volunteer wheat come up post harvest. Oat Cover Crop - Which Variety for Reducing Properties?
I asked the US rep from TerraLife about comparing Oat varieties for reducing properties, but was told that they have not done that kind of research.
I did notice that the black Oat variety that they are using in their mixes is said to have better cold resistance and higher biomass properties than other Oat varieties, so that explains why they chose this.
