Slugs and the role of nutrition, epescially iron
The worst is when waterlogging happens close to maturity. I have had slugs turning beetroot into lanterns in these conditions within days. Then the plant is in asphyxia and produces ethanol from reserve material to keep going. Small quantities, but this seems to be the trigger that is used in beer traps.

I do not know about your soils – here the root definitely quits the nice and structured zone in the direct seeded ones and it also stops growth, shrinks and often begins to twist when maturation begins. In the transplanted ones I just see a beard of roots without a tap root and I think this is not able to provide the shoot with ample…

Do you think that the slowing of root tip growth as plants mature plays a role in K deficiency?
So, would a microbe-based soil amendment, an aerated brew or something like that, provide K nutrition in a way similar to rhizophagy?
Thanks for the knowledge nuggets!

K put into the soil is a risk to soil structure, leaches easily and it hard to get in correct dosage. Growing root tips taking up microbes mean that you get the K from their cytoplasm ( together with prefab organic N building blocks,… + adhaering traces) and the plant is in full control of the amount it takes in.
